We are looking for candidates with a good level of fitness to work in our logging operation.

Our Nelson branch is looking to build a pool of casual and permanent part time Wharfhands to meet increasing labour demands. The work is manual and involves ensuring that bundles of logs are securely fastened before they can be lifted by crane onto log vessels. You will also scan and tally ticketed logs and communicate with other staff via radio.

Loading/unloading vessels is all about good team work and effective communication, so you must be able to demonstrate these skills. No prior experience is necessary as training will be provided, as long as you have a practical aptitude and are motivated and keen to learn.

A variety of shifts are available at any time of the day or night over a 24/7 period. Some weeks there may be no vessels to load while other weeks there could be a number of vessels, so the hours available vary from week to week. The permanent part-time roles guarantee a minimum of 96 hours work over 4 weeks.

To be considered for this opportunity with C3 you will need to:

  • Have flexibility to work hours over a 24/7 working week
  • Be a strong team player
  • Have good levels of fitness, as you will be on your feet for long periods of time
  • Work safely in line with our processes
  • Have a positive attitude

We offer the opportunity to learn and develop a career. Future opportunities, for the right candidates could involve crane driving and hatchmen.

C3 are committed to ensuring an inclusive workplace that embraces and promotes diversity.
