Our Nelson branch is growing its log stevedoring operations and we are looking to build our casual pool of Wharfhands to meet increasing labour demands. The work is manual and involves ensuring that bundles of logs are securely fastened before they can be lifted by crane onto log vessels.
A variety of shifts are available at any time of the day or night over a 24/7 period. Some weeks there may be no vessels to load while other weeks there could be a number of vessels, so the hours available can vary from week to week.
Loading/unloading vessels is all about good team work and effective communication and we seek applicants who can demonstrate these skills. No prior experience is necessary as training will be provided as long as you have a practical aptitude and are motivated and keen to learn.
To be considered for this casual opportunity with C3 you will need to:
- Have flexibility to work hours over a 24/7 working week
- Be a strong team player
- Act in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements
- Be physically fit and comfortable working outdoors
- Pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screen
