Straddle Crane Operators
Employing over 1200 staff in 11 locations, C3 Limited is a market leader in New Zealand’s port-related product and cargo handling, adding value to our clients’ businesses by providing solutions to their transport and logistics needs.
We are looking to top up our pool of straddle drivers with experienced drivers of port straddle cranes who have a minimum of two years local or overseas experience.
Our straddle drivers operate straddle cranes that stack and move shipping containers at the Sulphur Point Container Terminal, which is part of the Port of Tauranga.
This is a permanent position with a monthly minimum hour’s guarantee, equivalent to 40 hours per week. The starting pay rate for Straddle Crane Operators is between $30.00 - $34.00 per hour, with higher rates applicable once verified as fully competent.
Applicants must be flexible with their availability and able to work; days, nights, weekends and public holidays as this operation runs 24/7 with shifts generally between 6-12 hours long. Due to the variability of shipping schedules the hours are not always predictable.
Straddle Crane Operators need to have a calm aptitude and be comfortable working on their own in a small cab suspended 11 meters above the ground with the only form of communication being via radio.
Essential requirements for the position are:
Two years minimum Straddle Crane Operator experience
Comfortable working at heights
Flexibility and reliability
Good communication skills
Time management skills and ability to work unsupervised
Ability to meet deadlines
Willingness to follow standard operating procedures
A high personal standard of health & safety
Strict adherence to all health and safety procedures
Full Class 2 driver licence
