Operations Manager

Due to an internal promotion, we are seeking to appoint an experienced, motivated people manager to focus on all operational aspects of our Log Marshalling and Stevedoring operations at Port Chalmers and Dunedin. C3 receive and measure logs arriving via truck in Dunedin daily through our customer service facility, while Stevedoring operations assist with the loading of logs at Port Chalmers when log vessels are in port. 

Reporting to the Branch Manager we seek someone who can develop and lead a team and manage the day-to-day operations at the branch. This position offers opportunities to deliver further improvements in customer service, labour allocation efficiency and productivity.

This is a salaried role that ensures adequate staffing levels are covered in all areas, on all shifts and that team members are trained and following standard operating procedures to ensure a safe working environment. You will be someone who enjoys developing and getting the best out of others by fostering a good team culture and morale while enjoying a hands-on leadership role.

The successful candidate will require the following:

 Experience at optimizing efficiency of labour and plant

 Demonstrated commitment to health and safety management and understanding of legislative requirements

 Effective relationship management with customers and staff

 Good planning and organisation skills

 An energetic and positive personality to motivate and lead

 Experience with the Microsoft office suite & ability to quickly learn new computer programmes

 Strong and effective people leadership ability in complex labour environments

 Proven operational management experience, ideally in a supply chain, manufacturing or Port environment
