Maintenance Supervisor / Heavy Diesel Mechanic

Business growth is placing increased demands on the diverse range of heavy machinery that C3 Ltd use to handle products at the port. C3 Ltd has nine workshops around the country that maintain and repair heavy machinery used in the port environment. 

We are looking for a motivated and qualified Diesel Mechanic in heavy plant and equipment, with strong attention to detail, to become part of our Auckland team. You will bring a high level of technical skill and enjoy varied diagnosis, repair and mechanical work on a variety of industry leading equipment such as Hyster, Kalmar, Hyundai, Toyota, TCM, as well as Mafi Wharf trucks and trailers.

This position is a challenging combination of "hands on" mechanical repair of heavy plant coupled with planning and coordinating the optimum utilization of the local fleet.  A major focus of this role involves first line diagnostics (to determine in-house or outsourcing), minor repairs and some servicing. Approximately 60% of the repairs and maintenance work will be outsourced, resulting in a significant amount of coordination, planning and administration of repairs and maintenance within a structured fleet management system.

This is a sole charge position where primarily the role will be Monday to Friday, however, with shipping operations being 24/7 there will be an on-call component.

Essential requirements for the position are:

 Mechanic trade certificate (PolyTech or MITO)

 Proven experience repairing and maintaining heavy machinery 

 Being a self-starter with initiative

 Keen eye for detail with superior workmanship

 Commitment to Health & Safety of you and your team

 Flexibility and reliability

 Good ability with welding for maintenance type repairs

 Computer literacy

 Good communication skills

 Strong time management skills and ability to work unsupervised is essential. 

Well organized with strong planning ability
