About the Job
We have a permanent role on offer with a guaranteed minimum number of hours at the rail yard near Kinleith. Our preference is for the candidate to hold NZQA accreditation in Log Scaling, however candidates with the right motivation and attitude will be considered to undertake a structured training programme to obtain the required NZQA qualification.
This role works as part of a joint venture arrangement as the only local C3 employee working alongside employees from our joint venture partner. As part of a team a Log Scaler measures logs that arrive by rail. Every Log is measured against an international standard and then bar coded. The bar code for each log is then scanned into our system so that every log can be tracked where ever it is.
There is a stong focus on health and safety. Shifts can be up to 12 hours in length generally Monday to Friday, with some weekend work required dependant on log volumes. The hours of work are approximately between 0730am and 5pm, however shift times can vary.
As the only C3 employee at this site we require a proven self starter who is reliable and responsible. You will be the kind of person who likes to be accurate when taking measurements, with good numeracy and pays attention to detail. You will have good communication skills to liaise with other team members. This is an active outdoor role that requires you to meet deadlines and also be ok on your feet for most of your shift. You will also be confident operating scanning equipment and hold a full class 1 licence.
