Heavy Diesel Mechanic
Would you like the opportunity to join our expectational team of heavy diesel mechanics in the beautiful bay of plenty based in Mount Maunganui port operations. Here you will be supported and be able to contribute to our team of skilled technicians including heavy diesel mechanics, auto electrician, engineer, servicing staff and office administration.
This position is Monday to Friday, 7.00am to 4.30pm, day shift, with the ability to move into a callout roster which enables you to earn good money on top of your guaranteed hours worked.
- The workshop is a large, clean, and tidy environment with a harbour view.
- We operate a large fleet of Cat, Volvo, Liebherr, Sennebogen and Fuchs machinery, which includes wheel loaders, material handlers, excavators, shipping log grabs, forklifts and Mafi/terminal truck and trailers
- Our main cargo stream is log handling
- We have a strong focus on workplace health and safety. (Everyone home safely every day)
We are looking for a motivated and qualified Diesel Mechanic in heavy plant and equipment, with strong attention to detail, to become part of our experienced team. You will bring a high level of technical skill and enjoy varied repair and mechanical work.
Essential requirements for the position are:
- Mechanic trade certificate (PolyTech or MITO)
- Proven experience repairing and maintaining heavy machinery
- Being a self-starter with initiative
- Keen eye for detail with superior workmanship
- Flexibility and reliability
- Computer literacy
- Good communication skills
- Strong time management skills and ability to work unsupervised is essential.
Additional qualifications that would be advantageous:
- Experience in CAT ET. SIS and Insite.
- Good ability with MIG and ARC welding for maintenance type repairs
