Heavy Diesel Machinery Mechanic

To keep up with the demands of our growing business in the Nelson region C3 are looking for a motivated and qualified Diesel Mechanic skilled in heavy plant and equipment. This is a salaried role to support our Nelson operational team and direct/engage external contractors when required.  You will bring a high level of technical skill and enjoy varied service, repair, hydraulics and mechanical work on a range of heavy machinery.

This position operates in a port environment with a purpose-built utility vehicle provided.   

Essential requirements for the position are:

 Mechanic Trade certificate (Polytech or MITO)

 Proven experience repairing and maintaining heavy machinery 

 Being a self-starter with initiative

 Keen eye for detail with superior workmanship

 Flexibility and reliability

 Commitment to Health & Safety

 Computer literacy

 Good communication skills

 Strong time management skills and ability to work unsupervised is essential. 

 Available to be on call during vessel loadings

Additional qualifications that would be advantageous:

Previous experience working on forklifts, wheel loaders, excavators and heavy log handling equipment.
