Health & Safety Specialist


C3 Limited is a market leader in New Zealand’s port related product handling, adding value to its clients’ business by providing solutions to their logistics needs.  C3 Limited employ over 1200 staff in 11 locations across New Zealand.

Reporting to our Regional Manager Forestry this position has regional Health & Safety responsibility for our Whangarei, Tauranga, Kawerau, New Plymouth and Napier branches. The role is based in Tauranga with travel to the other branches. 

The person we are looking for will have operational health & safety experience and be hungry to learn and develop a career in this field. You could be in HR or a manager / supervisor in a hands-on role where you deal with health and safety on a regular basis and want to specialise in this area. C3 will be happy to support your career development and provide training and learning opportunities for you to attain relevant qualifications. 

This is a ‘hands on” position where you will be out in the business engaging and coaching staff and management, as well as providing advice and support on health and safety matters. In this role you will be anticipating risk and assisting branches with improving controls. We’re also looking for someone who can execute and drive health and safety initiatives, helping to embed safe practices into day-to-day operations, with the main goal to ensure our people go home safe and well every day. Ultimately, we are looking for someone who is motivated, with energy and drive, who can adapt and learn and is keen to take ownership of this region.

To succeed in this position, you will have strong administrative and personal organisation abilities, be able to work autonomously, conduct incident investigations, conduct / facilitate risk assessments, navigate health and safety databases and help implement policies and procedures.

To be considered for this position you will require:

• Experience with health & safety in a practical hands-on operational environment  

• Sound knowledge of current law and H&S legislation

• Strong relationship building abilities and resilience 

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Desire to drive a strong safety culture

• Ability to travel regionally (vehicle provided)
