About the Job
Plant Operators drive heavy machinery on the wharf for the loading and unloading of logs from trucks as they arrive at the port. Our operators ensure that the logs are safely moved and stacked neatly and accurately in rows, so that they can be brought to the ship's side when they are required to be loaded onto log vessels.
C3 operate a variety of heavy machinery including High Stackers and Pivot Steers with log grapples. The Operators ensure that the logs are safely moved and stacked neatly and accurately in rows, so that they can be moved to the ship’s side when they are required to be loaded onto log vessels. As the role involves operating large machinery in a confined space on the wharf - accuracy, attention to detail and a strong focus on Health & Safety is a priority.
On offer is permanent work with guaranteed minimum hours per month. This position requires flexibility regarding working hours as there are a range of shifts across a 24/7 work environment influenced by shipping schedules.
About you
You will hold a minimum of a Class 1 licence with W endorsement and preferably have forestry experience in a log fleeting environment or similar. Training opportunities are available for the right candidates if you haven’t operated this kind of machinery before but are motivated to learn new skills and develop a career. You will be reliable, flexible and committed with the ability to work to deadlines and perform well in a team environment.
As part of the selection process, you may be asked to demonstrate your abilities in a practical pre-employment assessment. The successful candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screen.
