Entry Level Checkpoint Processor

About the Job

This is an entry level opportunity to gain experience in the port logistics industry. Previous experience in this type of role is not required as full training is provided. Opportunities to grow and progress to other roles are potentially available to those with the right attitude and aptitude.

The Checkpoint is a facility where logging trucks come to have their logs measured and ticketed ready for export. The Log Scaler or Checkpoint Processor manually “scales” or measures each log using an international standard, then barcodes the log and scans it into our system so that every single log can be tracked wherever it is.

The Checkpoint is a team environment where the safety of our staff is paramount. Hours are varied with the Checkpoint operating 5 days a week Monday to Friday. The start time for the shift on offer is 0330am and shifts can be up to 12 hours in length. There is a guaranteed number of hours per month, along with a starting rate of $27.58 per hour.

About you

You will be the kind of person who likes to be accurate when taking measurements, with good attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines. You will also enjoy communicating with truck drivers and members of your team. This is an active outdoor role that requires you to be physically fit and also be ok on your feet for most of your shift.  You will also be confident operating scanning equipment and preferably hold a full class 1 licence.
