Checkpoint Processors / Log Measurers

About the Job

This is an entry level opportunity to gain experience in the port logistics industry. Previous experience in this type of role is not required as full training is provided. Opportunities to grow and progress to other roles are potentially available to those with the right attitude and aptitude.

The Checkpoint is a facility where logging trucks come to have their logs measured and ticketed ready for export. The Log Scaler “scales” or measures each log to an international standard using scanning equipment, then barcodes the log and records it in our system so that every single log can be tracked wherever it is.

The Checkpoint is a team environment where the safety of our staff is paramount. Shifts can be up to 12 hours in length and are Monday to Friday between the hours of 0400am and 1900pm when we are open for processing trucks. There is a guaranteed minimum number of hours per month. We also work some weekends on a rostered basis. Ultimately, we are looking for staff who can be a bit flexible with the hours they work.

About you

You will be the kind of person who likes to be accurate when taking measurements, with good attention to detail. Previous administration and data entry experience will be beneficial. You will also enjoy communicating with truck drivers and members of your team. This is an active outdoor role that requires you to meet deadlines and also be ok on your feet for most of your shift.  You will also be confident operating scanning equipment and preferably hold a full class 1 licence.
